Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara

couple, romance, dating, evening, Lisbon, travel, viewpoint, park, romatic

Lisbon is one of those thoroughbred European capitals that is a joy to photograph and live in. I often like to photograph the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara as not only is it one of the finest viewpoints of the city, there is always a good throughput of people to make it a good people watching spot for candid images...NB Please click on the image to view a larger comp.

One spring evening I was photographing the Castelho Sao Jorge when I spotted this couple sitting on a bench and shot this image.

This romantic scene is suitable for campaigns on the theme of romance and European travel, honeymoons and is available on an exclusive Rights Managed license.

Confidence can be a hard thing to convey in an image...Not with this creative stock image of a rope bridge in the Everest Himalaya of Nepal!

confidence,risk,self,confidence,determination,journey,travel,

The rope bridge is the classic test of self confidence...These large wobbly structures over a drop of hundreds of feet take some getting used to and are a regular feature of travel in the Himalayas of south Asia. NB Please click on the image to view a larger comp.

This image does have a good sense of going forth despite risks. Hence it can serve to illustrate a campaign about having the confidence to carry on or invest in something. "Nothing comes with a little risk" and copy as such, I think would lend themselves well to a campaign using this image.

If you are interested in licensing this image (which is available exclusively on a Rights Managed license), then please contact me on +44 7790 370025 or email lightroomphotos@icloud.com to discuss licensing terms.

NB The image is scanned high res at 3600dpi and is printable at 17 inches longest side at 300dpi.

Classic Desert Island in the Pacific Ocean

blue,ocean,island,desert,Robinson,Crusoe,remote,tropical

Sometimes we all think about how nice it would be to head off to our own little island in the middle of the sea. During a voyage to the island of Coiba off Panama's Pacific coast I photographed this classic little island which consists of just one palm tree, a beach and a rock. NB Please click on the image to view a larger comp.

I'd imagine this image could be useful for advertising campaigns which stress the theme of getting away, isolation, privacy, remoteness, escape, deep blue sea, sharing, introverted, shipwrecked, stranded or even something relating to Robinson Crusoe!

This image has never been licensed and is currently available on a Rights Managed Exclusive license.

If you are interested in using this image in one of your campaigns then please contact me to discuss the rights on this image on +44 7790 370025

Paradise regained

landscape,tropical,mono,Caribbean,travel,destinations,beautiful,palm,trees,

I shoot a lot of mono landscapes and this is one of my favourites...I shot it on a small Caribbean island on the Atlantic coast of Panama called Isla Grande. NB Please click on the image to view at a larger comp size.

This remote part of the island is little-visited by tourists and has a wonderful quality about it which exudes themes like paradise or exotic or tropical.

One thing I love about this photograph is the wonderful black and white tones of the palms in the strong tropical afternoon sun and the uninhabited island in the background. Panama's Atlantic Caribbean coast has an amazing landscape which often reminds me of the film 1492 (cue the Vangelis music!).

This is also a true coconut grove and the friend of mine who owned this land made a small income from the crop of coconuts it produced each year.

I think this dynamic landscape image would be highly suited to many different ad campaigns such as ones seeking to exude a cool tropical image (rather than the usual iStock vernacular colour landscape which abound in many ads) and other advertising campaigns which seek to convey through a strong image a sense of adventure in a tropical location.

Aerial photo of the Darien Gap Panama

Often I find that the perfect creative stock image is shot in the most unlikely of circumstances. In the case of this image, it was out of an old Huey helicopter while photographing the Panamanian frontier police in the mid-1990s.

This photograph almost begs to be used in campaigns concerning the environment, ecology or to stress what a jungle the world is or even the themes of exploration and adventure.

Photographing the Everest Himalaya of Nepal

It is perhaps an honour of sorts to get the opportunity to photograph the 'Top of the World' in the Mount Everest region of Nepal. While based as a photojournalist in Kathamdu, Nepal, I was lucky enough to spend three hours in the Everest region in a helicopter and then six weeks on a trek and then another year working in the region in 2006-2007.

The result of enormous effort (photographing professionally at these altitudes is far from an easy business - trying to shoot in thin air and with a 30kg plus backpack and equipment load is not for the lazy!) was a incredible portfolio of images of one of the most amazing and challenging locations on Earth.

Aside from the image above, I have a very large body of work from the Everest region which is great as creative stock to convey a sense of adventure, majesty and general awesomeness!

I also have some stunning panoramas and many great photographs of serene Tibetan Buddhist stupas and the extraordinary Shangri-La-esque landscape which is prevalent below the great peak of Everest.

If you would like to license any of these images or others from my archive of creative stock images, then please call me on +44 7790 370025 to discuss licensing.

Welcome to my creative stock photography blog!

My name is Jonathan Mitchell and I have been travelling the world with my cameras since the early 1990s.

I decided to establish this blog to show creatives some of the great images I have shot over the years and new ones that I produce that may be of interest to an art director at an ad agency or a graphic designer who is looking for something exclusive.

Most of my photographs are available on Rights Managed licenses and you can find some on Alamy. As I mostly shoot reportage and news, I don't send many of my creative stock images to Alamy, but have a large 35mm film archive of amazing black and white and colour photographs.

In recent years of course, I have also shot a lot of digital captures of landscapes in Scotland, England, Portugal and Nepal.

I do not produce model released stock as a rule, more I tend to shoot a lot of amazing landscape images. This is mostly what I will be posting here.

Should you be interested in using any of them in your projects, please contact me on +44 7790 370025
